SunCom jumps into cheap prepaid

CHARLOTTE, N.C.—Regional carrier SunCom Wireless Holdings Inc. unveiled its GoodCall prepaid service targeted at low-usage, first-time wireless users and budget-conscious consumers.

Customers can choose from the Motorola Inc. C115, the Nokia Corp. 6010 and the Nokia 6061. The initial set up for the GoodCall plan is $40, and the service includes nationwide service, voice mail, caller ID, call waiting and three-way calling. The service supports text messaging for an additional charge.

SunCom said the service allows customers to replenish minutes for as little as $10.
