Nortel teams with Toshiba over WiMAX

Nortel Networks and Toshiba Corp. have teamed up to jointly develop mobile WiMAX base stations for the Japanese and global markets.
The base stations will build on Nortel’s broadband wireless technology and Toshiba’s amplifier and miniaturization technology. The agreement calls for Toshiba to build the base station radio modules while Nortel will focus on developing the digital module for the base stations.
The companies said the base stations will offer low power consumption and high reliability.
