Fiber-to-the-home market up 112% yearly

More than 2 million U.S. households have direct connections into high-speed fiber networks, according to a new study by the Fiber-to-the-Home Council and the Telecommunications Industry Association.
The study said nearly 2% of U.S. households are connected via end-to-end fiber, and the market is growing at about 112% per year. The study also found fiber to the home networks now surpass 9.55 million homes, up from 6.1 million last year.
“Clearly, American consumers want what only fiber can deliver-and that is a pipe big enough to handle the high-bandwidth internet and video applications of the future,” said Joe Savage, president of the FTTH Council.
