Business users show their value

The average revenue per user among business users is 24% higher than among personal users, yet when it comes to mobile data services the gap is even wider with business users spending 80% more than personal users on multimedia and data services, according to new data from ABI Research.
The analyst firm surveyed more than 1,200 wireless subscribers and concluded that “business users are a premium segment of the overall wireless market, not only spending much more on their monthly bills, but also adopting advanced handsets and data/multimedia services at significantly higher rates than personal users.”
Business users also consume 69% more minutes of use per month than personal users, the firm found. Additionally, consumer-centric services like multimedia and entertainment applications experience much greater penetration among business usage at 78% higher than personal users.
“Operators still need to develop their capabilities to better service business customers. Such users deliver the highest ARPU for both business applications and entertainment. Combining the two will pay dividends,” principal analyst Dan Shey wrote in the report.
