The companies listed below represent the seven largest global infrastructure vendors as of the first quarter of 2008.
Rankings were provided by research firm Dell’Oro Group and include CDMA, W-CDMA and GSM vendors. Revenue and income information comes from first-quarter financial updates provided on the companies’ Web sites.
Ericsson topped the list, controlling about one-third of the global wireless infrastructure market. Nokia Siemens Networks and Alcatel-Lucent round out the top three.
Chinese vendors Huawei and ZTE made significant inroads into global marketshare between the first quarter of 2007 and the first quarter 2008. Huawei, which would have ranked sixth during last year’s first quarter moved up to fourth place, edging out Nortel Networks and Motorola Inc. ZTE remained in seventh place but nearly doubled its market share during the period.
All other vendors lost market share to the Chinese vendors during the period.
