Venture capital financing wrap-up: AdMob, Movidia, TagText and more

The following list includes venture capital and other investments into wireless companies announced during the past week. The value of the investment is included when available.
AdMob: Sequoia Capital’s Growth Fund led a $15.7 million Series C round of funding into mobile advertising company AdMob. Existing investor Accel Partners also participated in the funding round. The company said it will use the funding to make strategic investments to further its standing in the mobile ad space, including expanding worldwide operations, investing in the company’s technology platform, expanding offerings and growing its sales and business development teams.
Eventful: Telefonica led a $10 million round of funding into Eventful, a company that promotes local events. Existing investors Draper Fisher Jurvetson and Bay Partners also participated. The company said it will use the funding to bolster its business in the mobile channel and to explore international expansion.
Movidia: An international syndicate led by Celtic House Venture Partners and Capital-E led a $14 million Series A investment round into mobile video processor company Movidia. Emertec Gestion, AIB Seed Capital Fund and Enterprise Ireland also participated in the funding. The capital will be used to help the company bring its technology to market. As part of the investment, Roger Maggs and Brian Antonen of Celtic House, Rudi Severijns of Capital-E and Jean-Philippe Gendre of Emertec Gestion, will join the company’s board of directors.
TagText: NorthStar Equity Investors led a financing round of $1.6 million into TagText Ltd., which is creating an integrated messaging product that allows people to send animated avatars to their friends via mobile, social networks and the Internet.
