Motorola Inc.’s Enterprise Mobility Solutions unit announced two deals with health-care organizations. The company said Agilysys, a Motorola Premiere Solution Partner, has been chosen to deploy Motorola’s end-to-end wireless LAN and AirDefense solutions at Miami Jewish Health Systems. The deployment will support both current and future mobility initiatives. And Peleton Systems, a systems integrator and member of Motorola’s channel partner program, has deployed the company’s enterprise mobility system at ArchCare, which provides managed care and community services for more than 5,000 nursing home residents in New York City.
Hungarian mobile operator Pannon selected Alcatel-Lucent to provide an all-IP solution to unify its mobile core network and its existing IP/MPLS-based mobile backhaul solution. Pannon said by transforming its network to IP, it is preparing for an anticipated surge in mobile traffic and laying a foundation for LTE technology.
Leap Wireless and Pocket Communications announced plans to form a joint venture, controlled by Leap, that will provide service in the South Texas region, including San Antonio, Laredo and the Rio Grande Valley. At closing, Leap will own about 76% of the joint venture. As part of the deal, Leap is expected to purchase some of Pocket’s assets for $38 million in cash, and then contribute those assets to the venture.
WPCS International Inc. said it has received $8 million in new projects, including work for Ericsson and Crown Castle along with several police departments, health care organizations and schools. The company provides design-build engineering services for communications infrastructure.
