The Global mobile Suppliers Association published an update to its Evolution to LTE report, which says 101 LTE network deployments are currently in progress or planned in 41 countries. The number of network commitments to the technology is up 71% from about six months ago, said GSA. The group said as many as 22 LTE networks could be in commercial service by the end of this year.
The Mobile Giving Foundation Canada, which focuses on fund-raising efforts within the mobile channel, said nationwide text-to-donate campaigns have been launched to aid flood relief efforts in Pakistan. The mobile campaigns include participation from the Canadian Red Cross, UNICEF and World Vision Canada.

Revol Wireless said it added a new self-activation and account management capability to its mobile phones powered by Telespree Communications. The deal allows Revol subscribers to enroll in new services directly on their handsets. In addition, subscribers with Web-enabled devices can also manage their accounts after activation on their handsets.
