World’s fastest ever smartphone arrives in the shape of the dual-core LG Optimus 2X

If you’re looking for a new smartphone with even more processing power then get ready for the arrival of the dual-core LG Optimus 2X, which gets a launch in South Korea next month.
Running Android 2.2 Froyo and fully upgradeable to Android 2.3 Gingerbread, the Optimus2X will feature the dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, running at 1GHz, which should promise suitably zippy performance characteristics.
The slimline handset also sports a four-inch WVGA screen that will allow you to view 1080p HD video content along with HD recording from an on-board eight-megapixel camera on the rear of the handset. On the front, there’s a 1.3-megapixel snapper designed with face-to-face video calling in mind. Meanwhile, a chunky 1,500mAh battery provides the power source.
Storage will clock in at 8GB, with the option of expansion to 32GB via the usual microSD card slot. There’s also a micro USB port, while the Optimus 2X will also deliver wireless connectivity to any DNLA-compatible digital device, such as an HD TV, although there also an HDMI slot built in for good measure.
No pricing deals have so far been announced, but it is expected that this pocket-rocket should reach these shores early in the New Year.
