SingTel | January 28, 2011 | Press Release
Singapore 28 Jan 2011 – Singapore Telecommunications Ltd (SingTel) today announced that it has expanded the library of its award-winning mobile music service, AMPed, to more than two million tracks. In a new agreement signed with Warner Music Group, which also represents EMI in Singapore, AMPed customers will now be able to download music by popular artistes such as Bruno Mars, Linkin Park, Katy Perry, Madonna, Derrick Hoh, Jolin Tsai and Jam Hsiao.
Mr Edward Ying, SingTel’s Chief of Multimedia, said: “With the addition of the EMI and Warner catalogues, customers can now download music from all major international music labels. This represents the lion’s share of the content in the global music market.
“Increasingly, customers are using their mobile devices to listen to music instead of traditional music players. This trend has seen AMPed grow from strength to strength since its launch in 2009 – in fact, the number of subscribers has more than tripled within a year. Now, with Warner Music and EMI onboard, we expect a significant leap in the number of new subscribers.”
Mr Richard Lim, Warner Music Singapore’s Managing Director, said: “We are pleased and happy to be part of SingTel’s AMPed service, as this is the definitive answer to music consumers looking for unlimited music offering. With our vast library of catalogues from Warner and EMI to bolster the 2 million tracks currently, we look forward to create an exciting digital market for everyone.”
AMPed is the only unlimited music download service in Singapore. Customers can enjoy money-can’t-buy experiences such as exclusive showcases, autograph signings and meet-and-greet sessions with the stars.
The service is available at no cost to customers on SingTel 3G Flexi and iFlexi plans. Customers can browse and download songs to their hearts’ content, on their mobile devices and PCs, without incurring data charges. It is also the first service in Singapore to offer 15 Digital Rights Management (DRM)-free music for customers to keep every month and is available on more than 80 mobile handsets on the iPhone, Android, Blackberry, Windows Phone 7 and Symbian platforms.
Customers who sign up for SingTel’s Broadband on Mobile service at $9.90 per month for 200MB of data usage, will also enjoy AMPed at no charge.
