@ HIMSS: AT&T details latest pilots in healthcare vertical

Under its new division formed for the healthcare vertical, AT&T Inc. is expanding its platform and launching two new pilots around patient care specifically aimed at improving security and compliance with medical processes.
AT&T ForHealth is expanding its cloud-based Healthcare Community Online portal to include a mobile interface for smart phones, providing medical professionals with access to patient information in a secure environment. The platform includes access to 58 applications that help providers and patients perform tasks ranging from disease management to claims paperwork. AT&T Healthcare Community Online also provides providers with patient analysis at the point of care that can help them determine the best plan forward while tracking, managing and reporting on progress.
For the new pilots, AT&T will first leverage its telepresence technology to launch a project that will allow patients and physicians at the St. Joseph Health System to meet and consult via video. Health Care Service Corp., a health insurer with operations in Illinois, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas, will use AT&T mHealth Manager to trial a diabetes management solution provided by WellDoc DiabetesManager.
“We continue to innovate to help improve healthcare delivery through the use of technology,” Randall Porter, assistant vice president at AT&T ForHealth, said in a prepared statement.
AT&T ForHealth will be demonstrating its technologies and products for the healthcare industry at the HIMSS conference in Orlando this week. “We look forward to meeting with the nation’s leading healthcare organizations to discuss how our solutions can help them solve their most immediate and future needs,” Porter added.
