Open Systems eyeing geographical expansion with integrated services offering – Regional

Colombian BSS/OSS solutions provider Open Systems is confident it can expand beyond Latin America with its offering that seeks to manage and integrate all different areas of a utility’s operations, the company’s VP of business development, Hernando Parrott, told BNamericas.

In recent years, there has been a trend among telcos to offer triple or quadruple-play services. Customers are becoming increasingly accustomed to receiving all their services on one bill, and telcos are looking to handle multiple services on a single platform.

According to Parrott, Open Systems has a platform that can manage multiple services not only for telcos, but also for gas, electricity and water distribution companies, too.

“We manage all the process of customer service, CRM, billing, network inventory, maintenance of networks. It’s the same job but for a different company,” Parrott said.

Companies are also specializing more in selling devices, such as mobile handsets, or electric heaters in the case of electric power companies.

Open Systems is based in Colombia but has established a solid presence in 14 countries in the region with offices in Argentina, Ecuador and the US.

The company is now looking to expand to the fast-growing Brazilian market and further into the US.

“We’re looking at expanding into new geographies. Definitely the Brazilian market is a target we can’t afford to miss; also the US. We’re at a development stage in which the company is trying to leave an established presence in Latin America and, at the same time, think of expanding a little,” Parrott said.
