A consortium of Embratel and Claro has been appointed as a national sponsor of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
Embratel and Claro has acquired exclusive rights within the telecommunications category for the Games, with the sponsorship deal signed at the organising committee’s headquarters in Barra, Rio de Janeiro. Embratel is based in Rio while America Movil-owned Claro operates the largest mobile phone network in Latin America.
“This is the pinnacle of a project that began in 2008 with the bid of Rio de Janeiro for the Olympics,” said Embratel president Jose Formoso.
