RootMetrics, an independent service that measures and ranks optimal cell coverage in major cities across the United States, published a report this week ranking the best mobile performance in Dallas.
The verdict is in, and Sprint Nextel Corp. (S) takes top honors in Big D with an overall score of 73.8 out of a possible 100 points. Trailing a few points behind are T-Mobile USA Inc. (DTEGY) and Verizon Wireless (VZ) with scores in the low 60s and AT&T Mobility (T) falls flat at a low 51.0.
RootScore reports provide an assessment and ranking of mobile performance that reflects a consumer experience for activities performed that are commonplace such as making calls, uploading and downloading files from the Internet, and sending and receiving text messages.
The Dallas compilation is the second in a series of RootScore reports expected from the Bellevue, Wash.-based company. The first report was on Seattle, and next week’s report should address coverage in Miami. The company plans to publish additional RootScore reports on U.S. wireless markets to help consumers make better decisions about the right carrier for them.
