Reflecting the evolving nature of the industry, the eighth annual award from the Mobile Entertainment Forum (MEF), the global community for mobile content and commerce, honored companies with leading innovations for customer contact and interaction.

Ericsson and Velti were awarded “Best Brand on Mobile” for A&N Customer Relationship Management (CRM) using mobile. A&N Media is a leading multi-channel media company encompassing some of the UK’s best-loved and most popular brands. Through their newspapers, websites, digital television and mobile services, it connects with over 41% of the UK’s adult population.

Working with Ericsson IPX, Velti has offered A&N Media a range of Premium services to the readers of its various publications, encouraging customer engagement via SMS through a variety of areas such as texting in to get hints for puzzles, to submit an answer for a competition or to provide feedback.

Ericsson IPX leverages on its extensive carrier agreements reach, and manages SMS traffic and payment for the m-commerce services, while Velti handles the collection of information including location, gender, and interests from each customer interaction. This information is then used for targeted third party advertising as well as internal CRM.

The MEFFY Awards are given annually to measure success and reward innovation in the telecommunications industry. MEF’s Executive Director Rimma Perelmuter says: “Congratulations to Ericsson and Velti for executing 500 mobile campaigns, consisting of opt-in programs and premium SMS services, to the readers of A&N Media’s top publications.”
