Acquired mobile advertising executive leaves Apple

Andy Miller is leaving Apple Inc. (AAPL) for a job in venture capital, AllThingsD reports. The mobile advertising executive came to Apple in 2010 by way of a $275 acquisition of Quattro Wireless, a mobile advertising company he co-founded.

Miller is leaving Apple to become a general partner at Highland Capital, which just so happens to be the same Boston-based firm that funded Quattro.

Apple eventually shut down Quattro before launching its own iAd platform, but Apple’s advertising medium of choice has languished after marketers complained about high prices and Apple’s control over content. Miller is expected to be working on digital investments from Highland Capital’s Silicon Valley office, according to AllThingsD.
