Small cell advancements coming at Mobile World Congress
San Jose, Calif.-based SpiderCloud Wireless today announced a new line of small cell products that feature carrier aggregation, low-energy Bluetooth beacons and virtualized functions, among other upgrades.
SpiderCloud rolled out the new features ahead of Mobile World Congress, set for March 2-5 in Barcelona, Spain.
The updated small cells have dual-band radio nodes that allow for simultaneous 3G and LTE service or two-carrier LTE. Carrier aggregation peak rates are supported up to 300 Mbps.
The Bluetooth-integrated radio nodes help the small cell owner with inventory management and system maintenance.

Founded in 1995, Groupe Speciale Mobile Association is a trade group for mobile operators and related businesses. GSMA’s Mobile World Congress is the biggest annual industry event.
SpiderCloud’s new dual-band radio nodes can support two LTE operators on 5, 10, 15 and 20 MHz channels with a peak rate of 150 Mbps per band.
Voice over LTE operators can maintain separation of data traffic while still sharing band space with other LTE operators.
