Connectivity Wireless is a DAS provider
Two of Chicago?s top Class A office buildings are ramping up their in-building wireless cellular connectivity to meet tenant demands for improved cellular coverage. Building owners of both Michigan Plaza and 181 W. Madison have installed modern DAS solutions to bring cellular wireless connectivity throughout both class-A LEED-certified properties through MB Real Estate property management firm.
Michigan Plaza, which was completed approximately four months ago, has deployed a neutral-host DAS which currently has two of the four major U.S. wireless carriers on the system with the capability to expand to four.
?We?re happy to bring Michigan Plaza?s tenants’ more efficient wireless connectivity no matter where they are in the building,? said Steve Hennessy, MBRE senior vice president, and general manager of Michigan Plaza
Property owners wanted to deploy a system that can offer seamless cellular coverage both indoors and outdoors without disrupting tenants, according to Hennessy, who’s also the general manager of Michigan Plaza. The more than 2-million-square-foot office building is now outfitted with a new cellular system, which includes 31 remotes, 85,000 feet of coax cabling, 22,000 feet of optical fiber cabling, and 662 antennas.
The second project located at 181 W. Madison includes 16 remotes, 26,000 feet of coax cabling, 13,500 feet of fiber cabling, and 400 antennas to enable pristine cellular coverage and capacity throughout the 1-million-square-foot, 50-story office tower.
?Our tenants spend a lot of time using our amenities for work and various other activities that make high-quality wireless connectivity very important,? said Krystal Kurinsky, MBRE senior vice president and general manager of 181 W. Madison. ?Installing modern DAS solutions helped us provide even better service to our tenants.”
Both deployments were designed by Connectivity Wireless Solutions (CWS), a leading provider of cellular and converged network solutions to commercial property owners throughout the U.S. in partnership with its sister company, Simplifi Wireless Group.
Commercial real estate owners are increasingly recognizing that connectivity is an essential component for both tenant retention and the acquisition of tenants and can be driving force on increasing price per square foot and their bottom-line more owners are adopting DAS systems.
?DAS in-building wireless cellular connectivity solutions are a strong point of competitive differentiation,? said Thom Antonopoulos, executive vice president of Connectivity Wireless Solutions, in an interview with In Building Tech.
?Commercial real estate owners are coming to us to provide the most state-of-the-art- telecommunications system to make sure their tenants have the best available technologies via wireless and cloud-based services. They often look for turnkey type solutions with minimal disruption to their existing clientele,” Antonopoulos added.
