Nextivity sees solving for complexity and risk management as key to driving private LTE adoption

While there’s industry consensus that it will be a marathon, not a sprint, for private LTE and/or private 5G to be broadly implemented across the massive world of enterprise, investment in these technologies can bring immediate value that most businesses need given macro conditions. To help speed up the adoption of private LTE, Nextivity has put into market a solution combining its pedigree of expertise in cellular networking with an enterprise-friendly consumption model.

In an interview with RCR Wireless News, Nextivity CEO Michiel Lotter discussed the company’s ambitions in bringing to market the HARMONY Private Networking solution for LTE implementations using the CBRS band. Lotter called out complexity and risk management as the pain points HARMONY addresses.

“This is really the key focus,” he said, adding that the company has also developed an expertise in cellular networking which is rarely present in enterprise organizations. “As we rolled out our HARMONY service, our ability to take that knowledge about cellular networking and how to optimize and manage and truly get the full value out of the private cellular network, we felt that we needed to bring that to the enterprise to allow them to focus on the problems they’re trying to solve.”

To listen to the full conversation with Lotter, check out the second installment in a four-part podcast series exploring enterprise wireless in the Industry 4.0 era.

Nextivity’s approach includes an edge server loaded evolved packet core (EPC) running on an enterprise premises, a CBRS-compatible small cell, spectrum access system (SAS) management, and SIM cards. The system can be up and running in as little as one day when paired with the CEL-FI QUATRA 4000c Active DAS Hybrid cellular coverage system, making it easy for businesses to implement quickly and take full advantage of the benefits private LTE offers.

Big picture, Lotter said, “I think we are at a very exciting point today. I think we have gone through that initial lifecycle for private networks…As we engage with middleprise customers and system integrator partners, we are seeing that we are rapidly moving beyond the sort of proof of concept-type of deployments and getting to the point where we are delivering real value…We are extremely excited at Nextivity for what is to come.”
