Chinese vendor ZTE launched a 5G wireless router for indoor connectivity in the Middle East.
The router was launched in collaboration with United Arab Emirates (UAE) operator Du.
ZTE said the 5G Indoor Router MC801?supports the latest Wi-Fi 6 access technology (802.11ax), which allows a maximum of 128 Wi-Fi users to access the 5G network at the same time.
The Chinese vendor said that this 5G indoor router will allow customers to access 5G in all 5G-enabled areas of the UAE. It also provides a 10G Ethernet network port with downlink rates of around 2.8 Gbps, which will enable consumers to enjoy the advantages of ultra-fast 5G networks and 5G services, such as less congestion, reduced video buffering, continuous HD video streaming, and more consistent connectivity, the company said.
ZTE 5G Indoor Router MC801 will accelerates?the use of 5G in the “internet of vehicles”, smart grid, intelligent manufacturing, and?the internet of things, ZTE added.

In related news, Ericsson and Swiss telco Swisscom announced that the former has been deploying its indoor small cells solutions to expand the telco?s 5G coverage.
Daniel Staub, head of Joint Mobile Group at Swisscom, said that Ericsson?s indoor small cell system would strengthen Swisscom?s current 5G offering.
?The 5G Radio Dot System offers us a high performing and reliable network in indoor areas. We continue to expand our 5G network across Switzerland to deliver premium connectivity across the country, Ericsson?s innovative 5G Radio Dot is another important building block,? Staub said.
The Swedish vendor highlighted that its 5G Radio Dot is an instrumental tool for service providers as they progress with their 5G network rollouts, as it enables superior indoor experiences by boosting throughput to over 2Gbit/s.
Martin Buerki, Head of Ericsson Switzerland, said: ?Our 5G Radio Dot allows service providers to reuse existing indoor network infrastructure as they upgrade from 4G. Building on the existing Radio Dot System architecture, one can upgrade and complement existing networks quickly and efficiently.?
