BEDFORD, Mass.-Boston Communications Group Inc. and Freedom Wireless Inc. will head back to court today after being unable to reach a settlement in a case that could spell bankruptcy for BCGI.
Freedom won a $128 million decision in May from an eight-person jury that found BCGI violated a Freedom patent covering the technology and processes used to provide prepaid cellular service. BCGI and other co-defendants fought the ruling with an unenforceability defense, and the judge in the case futilely ordered mediation between the two sides.
The trial, which commences today, is expected to last another week or two.
BCGI also said it expects to release its second-quarter 2005 financial results after the markets close July 27. The company will hold a conference call and Webcast following the release.
