W-TRADE CREATES W-BANK FOR ON LINE BANKING

NEW YORK-w-Trade Technologies Inc., which developed the w-Trade wireless trading system, introduced a new product called w-Bank.

Much like the way w-Trade allows brokerages to offer wireless access to their online trading systems, w-Bank allows financial institutions to offer wireless access to their online banking systems.

According to the company, the solution allows customers with handheld wireless devices to check their checking or savings account balances, transfer funds between accounts, pay bills electronically and create intelligent alerts that inform them of cleared deposits, paid checks and other account changes.

Handheld devices supported by the system include the Palm Computing line of connected organizers, Windows CE-based handheld devices, the Inter@ctive Pager from Research In Motion Ltd. and smart phones like the Nokia Corp. 9000i.

Transmission technologies include Cellular Digital Packet Data, Global System for Mobile communications and BellSouth Wireless Data L.P.’s Mobitex network.

Additionally, w-Trade announced Dreyfus Brokerage Services, an affiliate of Mellon Bank N.A., will begin offering the w-Trade wireless trading system to customers.
