OYSTER BAY, N.Y.-The millimeter wave device market is expected to grow from 314,000 shipments this year to nearly 3 million shipments in 2004, according to Allied Business Intelligence’s new report “Millimeter Wave ’99-Broadband Wireless and Automotive Radar Markets, Opportunities and Forecasts.”
Traditional point-to-point and backhaul applications will be the majority of the millimeter wave shipments this year with more than 90 percent of the market. Less than 5 percent of the point-to-point millimeter radios are expected to be used for end-user access, said the report.
However, that ratio is expected to change dramatically during network buildouts, said ABI.
