TAMPA, Fla.-GTE Telecommunications Services Inc. began a nine-city product demonstration of its INPosition location-based service in San Francisco.
By calling a toll-free number, wireless users can hear live traffic reports, listen to Yellow Page listings, request traffic for a specific location or ask for a particular type of service listing using voice commands, GTE said.
GTE TSI said it partnered with San Jose-based Voice Access Technologies to provide the voice user interface.
Demonstrations in Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Los Angeles and Miami are set to take place in the coming months, said GTE.
