ATLANTA—RF Solutions Inc. said it has developed a chipset technology that converges cellular networks with wireless LAN, including 802.11a,b and g.
The announcement of the multiband, multistandard solution covers GSM, GPRS and wideband CDMA for high-speed data communications.
“There is a major market shift emerging in the convergence of cellular technology and WLAN technology,” said Mike Hooper, the company’s chief executive officer. “The logical conclusion of this market shift is an integrated mobile computing device (cell phone, personal digital assistant, notebook computer) that can communicate with both the existing cell phone infrastructure (for voice) and WLAN networks for high-speed data applications.”
