UK’s Multitone to take over Motorola paging business

Motorola’s Personal Communications Sector announced it is selling off its core paging device product lines to integrated wireless networking (IWN) and wireless messaging company Multitone Electronics.

Motorola said it will transfer its FLEX, ReFLEX and POCSAG paging protocol-based devices to U.K-based Multitone, which will take over the manufacturing of FLEX and POCSAG devices, including the Advisor Elite and Advisor Gold word pagers and ReFLEX devices including the Talkabout T900 and Timeport P935 personal communicators.

Multitone said the new product lines will complement its recently expanded IWN product portfolio in the UnitedStates. “We are confident in our ability to offer network operators and service providers a seamless process for purchasing devices due to the transition plan we’ve developed with Motorola,” said Michael Walker, chief executive officer of Multitone. “In addition, I believe our technical solutions in the business-to-business sector will add real value to the product offerings of service providers.”
