MADRID—Telefonica Moviles SA selected Nortel Networks to supply radio access equipment for its UMTS rollouts in Germany and Spain in a contract valued at about $250 million over three years.
Nortel said it will provide $230 million in funding for the contract.
“We will work closely with Telefonica Moviles to ensure they benefit from our in-depth global experience in deploying and optimizing large networks based code division technology,” said Pascal Debon, president of wireless networks at Nortel.
