Motorola completes UMTS call

WIESBADEN, Germany—Motorola said it has successfully completed its first Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) voice call in the country in line with 3GPP standard release 99 version.

“It establishes another basis to specifically optimize our technologies for commercial implementation with network operators,” said Jerry Chard, director of UMTS infrastructures at Motorola.
