Alcatel bonds cut to ‘junk’ status

LONDON-Credit rating agency Moody’s Investors Service cut French vendor Alcatel to “junk” status, driving down the price of the company’s bonds.

Moody’s decision was due to the continued weak demand for telecom equipment, which it expects will not improve during the next year.
