LONDON-The Tunisian mobile market has received a significant boost from the rollout of prepaid services, a recent report from Arab Advisors Group revealed.
The study showed a substantial increase in the number of subscribers in Tunisia, with national carrier Tunisie Telecom experiencing growth in its cellular subscriptions. Subscriber numbers were up to 404,202 in March 2002 from 119,075 in 2000-a penetration rate of 4.01 percent, up from 1.2 percent in 2000.
According to the report, the majority of this increase in the subscriber base is as a result of the introduction of prepaid service.
