Orange investigates security problems with SPV

LONDON-Orange is looking into possible security breaches in its new SPV smart phone, according to reports. The device is the first to use Microsoft Corp.’s Smartphone operating system.

Neither Orange nor Microsoft was immediately available for comment.

The security bugs were posted on a smart phone enthusiast Internet site, www.modaco.com, according to reports. However, the site was not immediately accessible.

The security flaws allow hackers to bypass Orange’s control over the devices, the reports said. The carrier’s smart phone service is set up so that only Orange-approved applications can be used on the device.
