WOODBURY, New York, United States-Messaging company Comverse announced Taiwanese mobile carrier MoBiTai will use its server to offer multimedia message services (MMS).
“Our agreement with MoBiTai emphasizes that our platform is configurable, open and flexible, and strengthens Comverse’s position as a leading mobile data provider,” said Zeev Bregman, Comverse’s chief executive officer (CEO).
The deal is notable because Nokia and Ericsson have so far largely dominated the infrastructure market for MMS services. Many have hinted that the companies are using their MMS-capable mobile phones as a way to foster MMS infrastructure sales.
