SEOUL, South Korea-LG Electronics Inc. announced it will reorganize and centralize its U.S. business under a new chief executive based in Englewood Cliffs, N.J.
Michael Ahn, who has worked with LG for 28 years, will serve as the company’s new president and chief executive officer of its U.S. business. Instead of reporting to executives in LG’s home base of Seoul, LG’s U.S. divisions, including its Mobile Phones, Digital Display & Media and Digital Appliances, will now be consolidated under Ahn.
“I am honored to be chosen to lead the talented North American team for LG Electronics, capitalizing fully on marketing and technology synergies across all business groups,” Ahn said. “We have significant opportunities for growth as we launch LG-brand digital video products, continue the momentum of our popular Zenith digital brand, and further expand the reach of LG-brand mobile phones and digital appliances in the U.S. and Canada.”
The move follows the rapid growth of LG’s U.S. mobile-phone business. The company has been working to gain more widespread brand recognition.
