WASHINGTON—Online wireless retailer InPhonic Inc. unveiled a business unit targeting small business users.
The company launched Wirefly.biz, an Internet storefront hawking products and rate plans designed for home office workers and small businesses. The site carries offerings from Cingular Wireless L.L.C., Sprint Nextel Corp., T-Mobile USA Inc. and Verizon Wireless, allowing users to shop by carrier, rate plan or handset manufacturer.
InPhonic operates Wirefly.com, a consumer-targeted online retailer. John Hannula, former director of marketing for Nextel Communications Inc., was named InPhonic’s vice president and general manager for small business.
“We see Wirefly.biz and its offerings as a key extension of our current services, and as both an exciting and significant opportunity for us to leverage our considerable online reach,” said David Steinberg, InPhonic’s chief executive officer. “We believe we can deliver this small business program with our online strategies as a win-win approach with our carrier partners as we strive to drive incremental sales and create higher revenue accounts with a high-touch, yet scalable, program.”
