Tele2 launches free video, audio via 3G

NEW YORK-European telecom carrier Tele2 AB said it has launched a free video and audio service for third-generation handsets.

The company said video content will be provided by its TV channel, dubbed Tango, and music for Sunshine Radio Luxembourg will be available from a WAP portal. Tele2 serves 28 million users in 24 countries, offering fixed and wired phone networks as well as Internet access, cable TV and content services.

“With the launch of this TV over 3G service, Tele2 is showing that it is at the leading edge of mobile technological developments,” said Lars-Johan Jarnheimer, the firm’s chief executive officer. “We look forward to monitoring the development of this service in Luxembourg to learn about customer behavior, which we can apply later to our other mobile markets.”
