NEW ORLEANS-Brightpoint Inc. said it has launched a new line of business called Advanced Wireless Services, which will focus on delivering bundled wireless products to meet customers’ wireless data needs.
Products the company plans to provide include Windows-based smart phones and Pocket PCs, activation services, bundled software applications, wireless local area network infrastructure and services, Voice over Internet Protocol solutions and wireless content.
The company said it will provide the products through its existing sales channels as well as through new channels such as value-added resellers and system integrators.
In conjunction with the new division, Brightpoint announced a VAR Mobile Activation Service that will allow VARs to deliver Windows Mobile-based devices to their small and medium-sized business customers, provide wireless activation services and receive commissions from mobile operators.
The company entered an agreement with Intel to work together on global sales of wireless devices based on Intel’s XScale technology. In addition, Brightpoint and Microsoft Corp. announced a joint marketing agreement to market integrated wireless solutions to VARs.
