OTA Flash Forum names top priorities

LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif.-The OTA Flash Forum, an over-the-air technology industry group, said security issues, interoperability concerns and remote diagnostics solutions will be its top priorities for 2005.

The group identified four primary focus points for the year: ensuring devices with different OTA clients can be managed by a common server; maintaining the integrity of mobile devices via OTA downloads of security software; ensuring secure ingestion of update packages into an operator’s network and onto a device; and addressing OTA solutions for gathering device status and configuration data.

OTAFF also released a white paper on end-to-end security for firmware updates and added seven new members.

“With more than 40 participants attending the December OTAFF meeting hosted by Orange, it’s clear that we’re entering a big year for OTA device management projects,” said Gene Wang, chief executive officer of Bitfone and chairman of the OTA Flash Forum.
