TAMPA, Fla.-Wireless retailer and Wi-Fi hot-spot provider FTS Wireless Inc. said it plans to begin marketing Alltel Corp.’s wireless products and services next month. The company currently distributes wireless products from Cingular Wireless L.L.C. and Sprint Corp. in select markets.
“Alltel has a solid footprint in southwest Florida, our core market,” explained Scott Gallagher, chief executive officer of FTS. “We believe offering FTS customers access to Alltel wireless postpaid and prepaid products will translate into noticeable increases in monthly wireless activation rates for FTS.”
Alltel recently reported plans to acquire Western Wireless Corp. for approximately $6 billion in cash, stock and debt assumption. When completed, the deal will boost Alltel’s position as the nation’s sixth-largest wireless operator with nearly 10 million subscribers.
