Telco Systems launches program to provide SDN and distributed NFV to the network edge
The telecom network virtualization movement received a new proponent with Telco Systems launching its Open Edge Alliance program. The company, which offers carrier Ethernet 2.0 and MPLS edge solutions using network function virtualization and software-defined networking targeting mobile backhaul and cloud networking, said the program is designed to provide SDN and distributed NFV solutions to the network edge.
In luring members, Telco Systems said members are able to develop applications that become fully certified components of “complete, carrier-grade, network-edge solutions.” That certification is said to allow for quicker time to market and lower expenses. An online store of certified applications designed to run on Telco Systems’ D-NFV CloudMetro platform is said to have already been deployed in numerous service provider networks.
Telco Systems said initial members of the program include Intel, Check Point, AudioCodes and Netrounds.
“The entire networking industry is striving to enable agile networks that deliver assured connectivity services orchestrated across network domains between physical and virtual service endpoints,” said Mats Nordlund, CEO of Netrounds, which provides on-demand service assurance solutions. “Teaming up with Telco Systems and the Alliance makes it possible to provide such a solution to service providers.”
