This week on HetNet Happenings, RCR Wireless News Managing Editor Sean Kinney takes a look at news from the annual TM Forum Live telecom software exhibition held in Nice, France.
Included is a segment with Ericsson SVP and CTO Ulf Ewaldsson discussing the collision of telecom and IT as well as opportunities and challenges associated with cloud computing.
“The telco industry … is now colliding with the IT industry,” Ewaldsson said during a briefing at TM Forum Live. “As that collision is happening, architecture, discussions of how that will evolve, is one of the key items.”
“We have now passed the inflection point in the networked society. The devices, together with the development of cloud and the off-premise computing capabilities that are coming in industry after industry, changing the business models, providing a closed loop or a value closed loop opportunity … that’s what’s really the transformation factor and you will find it almost everywhere.”
Also included is a discussion with a representative of major Indian telecom player Tech Mahindra. RCR Wireless News Editor Joey Jackson learns about the long term development of the telecommunications infrastructure on the subcontinent.
