WASHINGTON-The Telecommunications Industry Association, which recently pulled its support of the Supercomm trade show, today announced its new telecom-focused event, Globalcomm.
The annual exhibition and conference will take place June 5-8, 2006, at Chicago’s McCormick Place. TIA said the event will bring together suppliers with service providers and enterprise users in the telecommunications marketplace.
“TIA has the same operations, sales and marketing team in place that helped shape Supercomm as a worldwide brand,” said TIA President Matthew J. Flanigan. “After years of managing, planning and promoting Supercomm, as well as closely analyzing exhibitor and attendee data, our team is well prepared to deliver another must-attend event to the global community.”
The group said Globalcomm will offer educational sessions conducted by the International Engineering Consortium (IEC), the group that developed Supercomm conferences and content.
Earlier this month, the U.S. Telecom Association, the other Supercomm sponsor, announced it would no longer sponsor the show following the 2005 event, and TIA reportedly declined to purchase USTA’s interest in the Supercomm brand. USTA will offer an expanded telecom show beginning in 2006 in Las Vegas.<
