Simpay payment solutions emerge

DUBLIN, Ireland-M-commerce moved a step closer to becoming reality with two separate announcements this week.

Payment software company Valista announced Orange has chosen its payment technology to provide connectivity to Simpay. Simpay, which was founded by Orange, Telefonica Moviles, T-Mobile and Vodafone, focuses on enabling interoperable micro-payments over mobile and fixed Internet channels.

France Telecom’s w-HA subsidiary will operate the service for Orange, while Valista will provide the technology based on its Payments Plus platform.

Meanwhile, software developer Qpass announced it will launch Simpay-compliant payment components in its offerings. The company has also agreed to consult with Simpay on the U.S. market, where Qpass provides m-commerce software to seven operators, including AT&T Wireless Services Inc., Cingular Wireless and Nextel Communications Inc..
