Chinese handset vendor licenses CDMA from Qualcomm

SAN DIEGO-Qualcomm Inc. and Chinese handset manufacturer Amoi Mobile have signed a worldwide commercial CDMA subscriber unit license agreement under which Qualcomm has granted Amoi a license to develop, manufacture and distribute cdmaOne and CDMA2000 1x/1x EV-DO subscriber units.

“Qualcomm is pleased to license Amoi Mobile, a company with a reputation for targeting innovative mid-range and high-end wireless devices,” said Marvin Blecker, senior vice president and general manager of technology licensing for Qualcomm. “Amoi’s introduction of CDMA multimedia-enabled handsets and smart phones will only solidify its reputation and position in the wireless market.”
