TruePosition Inc. announced an agreement to provide its Finder system to Iowa wireless carrier I Wireless. The Finder system will allow the carrier to meet Phase II E911 requirements, said TruePosition.

Motorola Inc. said it plans to incorporate Hewlett-Packard Inc. technologies into its CDMA and iDEN network infrastructure with a view to increasing flexibility for operators. HP will offer its cx2600 64-bit rack-mount server, Linux operating system and Open Call Radio Signaling Controller solution. “Motorola has been collaborating with HP throughout HP’s 25 years in telecom networks, and this new platform embodies the power of the convergence of IT and telecom,” said Ann Livermore, executive vice president, Technology Solutions Group at HP. Motorola said the new products will allow it to work with operators in both mature and emerging markets.

Verizon Wireless said it has activated 12 new digital cell sites in North Dakota this year, as well as completed the deployment of its CDMA2000 1x-based NationalAccess data network in western North Dakota. The carrier said it plans to add five more cell sites by the end of the year as part of an expected $21 million investment in its network throughout the state. The new cell sites have been deployed near Barrie, Emerado, Cavalier, Fargo, Jamestown, Pingree, Rugby, Bismarck, Mott and Minot, N.D., along with Glyndon, Minn.

The FCC’s Wireless Telecommunications Bureau completed a staff shuffling following the retirement of long-time deputy chief Gerald Vaughan. Replacing Vaughan as deputy chief is Scott Delacourt, former wireless bureau chief of staff. Replacing Delacourt is D’Wana Terry, former chief of the public safety and critical infrastructure division. Michael Wilhelm is being promoted to replace Terry.

FunMail Inc. said its Wallpaper Universe offering is available on AT&T Wireless Services Inc.’s mMode service. The service allows users to select backgrounds for their mobile-phone screens. mMode users also will have access to the company’s Name Tags, which allows customers to personalize their wallpaper.
