Aplix acquires Java provider

Java technology platform provider Aplix Corp. has acquired iaSolution Inc., a provider of Java-embedded solutions in China and Taiwan.

Upon closing of the transaction, iaSolution will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Aplix, and Wesley Kuo, president of iaSolution, will join Aplix as president and chief strategy officer.

“The integration is an excellent fit for both companies, allowing us to combine our R&D efforts and generate innovation at an accelerated pace. This collaboration additionally provides increased international coverage from Japan, Europe and the U.S. to China, Taiwan and Korea, allowing both companies to better serve our customers,” said Ryu Koriyama, chairman and chief executive officer of Aplix.

“Aplix has established partnerships with first-tier handset manufacturers and operators in Japan, Europe, and the U.S. Combining this with iaSolution’s deeply rooted position in Greater China with leading ODM manufacturers and Chinese operators should have great benefits for everyone.”

The combined company will have dozens of licensed customers worldwide and offices located in Japan, Germany, the United States, China, Taiwan and Singapore.

In other Aplix news, the company announced an agreement with NTT DoCoMo Inc. to jointly develop a DoJa/Java platform prototype for DoCoMo’s third-generation devices. DoJa/Java is the application execution environment for the Japanese carrier’s i-appli environment.
