Nokia to use Coding’s audio compression technology

NUREMBERG, Germany-Nokia Corp. will incorporate Coding Technologies’ aacPlus audio codec into its future products under a newly signed licensing deal.

aacPlus, which offers high audio quality at low bit rates through an audio compression scheme, has been adopted by SK Telecom, Vodafone and MmO2 for mobile music services.

“Nokia has tremendous influence on the direction of the mobile industry,” said Oliver Kunz, vice president of strategic marketing and Coding Technologies. “We are very excited to provide aacPlus to Nokia, and we look forward to this new era of mobile multimedia.”
