Siemens wins Indian GSM contract

MUNICH, Germany-Siemens AG said it signed a $50 million contract with India’s Bharti Tele-Ventures, India’s largest GSM carrier. Siemens will expand the carrier’s GSM/GPRS network and operate and maintain it.

The three-year contract includes expanding Bharti’s network in the circles of Kolkata, Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal.
Bharti has more than 7 million customers.
