LONDON-U.K.-based wireless messaging company mBlox announced it acquired Swapcom SMS, the French text messaging transmission business of Swapcom. MBlox said the move will help it gain a foothold in the French market, and that it will continue to support the Swapcom short messaging service business. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
“France is a pivotal market in Europe,” said Andrew Bud, mBlox’s chairman. “Our acquisition of the SMS subsidiary of this established player will help reinforce mBlox’s position as Europe’s leading dedicated provider of SMS transmission services. Content and applications providers have been eagerly awaiting a financially strong partner who can provide them with a consistent level of service across Europe’s main markets and into the US.”
MBlox has recently been making moves into the U.S. market and has been working to consolidate the text messaging business. The company recently announced a merger with MobileSys Inc.
