Cingular Wireless L.L.C., the nation’s largest cellphone carrier, announced it will renew its content distribution deal with Motricity. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
“Motricity has reduced Cingular’s time to market for new content and increased title selections for their end-users,” said Motricity Chairman and CEO Ryan Wuerch. “When Cingular launched exclusive song contestant ringtones, it was our Fuel technology that powered the service and enabled new ringtones to be available to customers the morning after the contestants performed on TV. Start to finish, this was the fastest production and delivery of ringtones ever and our platform made it possible.”
Cingular uses Motricity’s Fuel platform to sell content like ringtones and games to its subscribers. Alltel Corp., Sprint Nextel Corp., Palm Inc. and others also use the company’s Fuel platform.
