BCGI clear of Freedom Wireless problems

BEDFORD, Mass.—Boston Communications Group Inc. said the settlement of all patent litigation brought against it by Freedom Wireless has been completed.

The two companies announced a settlement in July that called for BCGI to pay $55.3 million for licensing rights to Freedom Wireless’ patents. BCGI said it will continue to provide its prepaid wireless services platform under terms of that license agreement and that all claims made by Freedom Wireless against the company have now been resolved.

BCGI’s stock was relatively unchanged after the news at $2 per share.

Last week, Freedom Wireless scored a second patent-dispute win when mobile virtual network operator Virgin Mobile USA L.L.C. agreed to use the patent holding company’s prepaid wireless billing technology. Terms of that agreement were not disclosed.
